Reading Literacy: Practice Book for Students
Please note-
🔹The ability to locate, understand and reflect on various kinds of information is the foundational skill that enables students to learn in school and throughout life. 🔹The National Education Policy, 2020 has advocated for a learner-centric education that develops these critical skills. 🔹Aligned to this vision, the Central Board of Secondary Education is progressively taking steps to design curriculum, assessment and other resources targeting key curricular outcomes.
🔹With the larger goal in mind to equip our learners with the 21st century skills of creative and critical thinking, the Board is delighted to share Reading Literacy: Practice Book for Students for English.
🔹This practice book provides students of classes 7-10 with an opportunity to engage with a variety of texts in a self-learning mode.
🔹It will help students to learn the nuances of the language in an innovative, engaging and functional manner.
🔹The five units of this practice book are an eclectic mix of subjects ranging from food, travel, sports to our glorious heritage. 🔹The book presents a wide variety of authentic reading materials such as movie reviews, posters, quotations, cartoons, blogs, Instagram posts and more.
🔹It provides a rich reading experience to the students. These themes have been carefully curated keeping in mind the interests of the learner and the larger educational goals.
🔹Various sections are interconnected through interesting dialogues between two characters that guide the learners.
🔹This makes the book easy to navigate.
🔹Also, the recommendations of the two mascots help develop in students a larger interest in reading and experiencing different kinds of texts.
🔹The students are led through an interesting read of tidbits and introduced to a fascinating range of sub genres.
🔹This resource material is an attempt to help learners explore the wealth of language in a self-directed and systematic manner.
🔹The question types provide them with ample opportunity to think, evaluate, consider and express.
🔹The book is available on CBSE Academic website at the link http://cbseacademic.nic.in/web_material/Manuals/reading_literacy.pdf and also on the DIKSHA portal.
🔹Usage of this learning resource by students will make language proficiency an achievable goal.
